Evernote Overhauls Its iOS Apps With Latest Update

Evernote, the popular digital note-taking service, updated its iOS app lineup Thursday with a slick redesign and new ways to navigate through the wide variety of content you can upload to the app.

The new look focuses on making interactions more efficient. (But it looks modern and minimalist, to boot.) According to the company’s blog, all major functions can be accessed within two taps.

The home screen is now organized into screen-wide section dividers: Places, Tags, Notebooks, and All Notes. Tap one to fill up the whole screen, then either tap the Evernote logo in the upper left or drag it down for an accordion-like transition to the homescreen’s tabbed section view.

At the top of the homescreen, all it takes is a quick tap to add a note, take a picture, or take a snapshot (useful for adding business cards to the mix).

The All Notes section lets you view your notes either in a list or grid view, organized by date or title. The grid view is particularly nice for getting a quick peek at the contents of the note.

The Places tab offers a convenient way to check out your notes based on where you made them (if you enabled location in the app). You can view notes as flag points on a map, or tap to get a grid view of the notes you’ve made for a particular area.

The Evernote app update is free and available now.
